Page is changing now and then on the new garbage enforcement in NYC

The NYC Dept of Sanitation released new details on the new garbage rules that went into effect on November 12 midnight.

Although the city did state enforcement will start in Midtown Manhattan starting with apartments, new messages were sent out to the public.

The basic information shows all properties from 1 to 9 residential units must use garbage bins that are up to 55 gallons in size with secure lids. Anything additional is listed on the city's sanitation dept page.

A warning period will be issued until January 2, 2025 for placing garbage without a bin or without a lid.

According to the Dept of Finance, over 400,000 bins have been ordered by residents when it was announced last July.

The Mayor will make the next announcement of new trucks that will pick up the new containers without workers lifting them up but roll down and then roll back.

Now read this - The city is not responsible for the damages on the containers and residents must purchase new ones.
