Ozone Park man pleads guilty to rape of 40 year old woman repeatedly sexually assaulted to gunpoint

Acting Queens District Attorney John M. Ryan today announced that an Ozone Park resident has pleaded guilty to raping a 40-year-old woman at gunpoint on 93 Street in Jamaica, Queens, last December. The woman was threatened and repeatedly assaulted for hours as the defendant brandished what appeared to be a firearm.

Acting Queens District Attorney Ryan said, ?In pleading guilty, the defendant has admitted to brutalizing a woman he encountered on the street shortly before midnight. He displayed what appeared to be a firearm, threatened to kill her and then repeatedly raped and sexually abused her for several hours.

It is my hope that the victim of this vicious crime will gain some solace in knowing this defendant will be locked away for a long time.?

The District Attorney?s Office identified the defendant as George Persaud, 24, of 104 Street in Ozone Park, Queens. Persaud pleaded guilty late yesterday to first-degree rape before Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter. Justice Buchter indicated that he would sentence the defendant on October 3, 2019, to a determinate term of 17 years in prison, followed by 15 years post release supervision.

Acting DA Ryan said that, according to the charges, on December 29, 2018, around 11:45 p.m., the defendant approached the victim on the street and displayed what appeared to be a black firearm and said ?Don?t do anything stupid or I?ll kill you.? He then proceeded to sexually assault the victim.

Continuing, according to court records, the defendant forced the victim to a nearby gas station where he forced her to perform a sex act. At one point, the defendant appeared to let the 40-year-old woman leave, but as she moved away from him he followed her to her vehicle, forced her into the back seat of the car, forced her again to perform a sex act and raped her.

According to the court records, said Acting DA Ryan, Persaud took the victim?s car keys and drove the two of them to an alleyway on 100 Street. When he exited the car to relieve himself, he took the keys with him locking her inside. At that time, the victim remembered she had a spare key in her handbag, retrieved it and drove away from the scene.

Acting District Attorney Ryan said that fingerprints retrieved from the interior rear driver?s side window of the victim?s car was matched to the defendant. (From Queens DA's office)
