Over 10 year old warrants and arrests dismissed

More than 700,000 existing summons warrants of NYC will be dismissed The Mayor's office confirmed of more than 700,000 existing summons warrants with arrests over 10 years old will be dismissed in August of violations range from non-violent to petty offenses such as drinking alcohol, peeing in public and loitering. NYPD will not arrest anyone with warrants if their name appears in the database during routine conducts when questioned by police of suspicious or traffic stop. The change of criminal offense to civil violation with summon issues doesn't sit well with NYPD after years of working around the clock of what middle class says cleaning up the city. Currently, the city has over 1.5 million open summons warrants which are in the process of dissolution. Brooklyn has 143,000, Bronx has 166,000, Manhattan has 240,000 and 100,000 in Queens of the 700,000 that will be dismissed automatically.
