Operation Hang Up launched in NY

Police reported the campaign, Operation Hang Up have launched from April 12 to 16 to combat distracted driving while using electronic items including phones. The first offense is a minimum fine of $50 and $200 maximum. Second offense within 18 months time frame is $250 and third is $450. Inn 2017 alone, 215,036 were issued for both text and talk on the phone. Additional patrol are scattered around NY locations targeting drivers.
