One dead after struck by vehicle in Wantagh

The Homicide Squad is investigating a Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 6:28 a.m. in Wantagh.

According to Detectives, while attempting to cross westbound over Wantagh Avenue in the intersection of Duck Pond Drive North, a male pedestrian was struck by a marked Nassau County Police Vehicle. The male pedestrian, 22, suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 a.m. by hospital staff. Two Officers were also transported to local area hospitals for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. The New York State Attorney General was notified and responded.
