One bus driver and two people dead in Flushing

It happened around 6:15 on Monday, September 18 at the intersection of Main Street and Northern Blvd. One MTA bus and a private bus collided during turn at the intersection. The private bus driver of Dhalia company died along a passenger and a pedestrian struck by the incident. The MTA bus, Q20 had 15 passengers inside and the bus driver. The private bus company hit the local store, Kennedy Fried Chicken causing minor fire. EMS transported the injured to various hospitals. The buildings were evacuated and gas lines in the area has been shut off. Mayor di Blasio was in the area for press statement and stated several people are in critical condition. MTA Chairman Joe Lohta stated to press speed may have played. Lohta also stated that the private bus was going eastbound Northern Blvd when it crashed with MTA Q20 that was making a turn from Main Street when the collision occurred. The area is closed due to ongoing investigation.
