Officer released from hospital went home on Long Island

The SCPD issued a statement today that officer Brendon Gallagher has been released from the hospital now heading home. This came after 22 days remaining in the hospital after pursuit with crash on the Long Island Expressway.

The officer was airlifted on January 13 on the expressway.

The SCPD Commissioner reported the officer will have a long road to recovery and hope to be back to work.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains under custody and indicted on January 17 for slew of charges. The suspect was driving at 100 miles per hour when the incident occurred. The next court date is February 20.

The investigation continues.
