Off duty cop wounded in self inflicted gunshot in Laurelton

Cross Island Parkway northbound is closed.
Police are at Francis Lewis Blvd and 133rd Avenue reporting an off duty cop wounded from self inflicted gunshot at his home. Cross Island Parkway northbound from Belmont Racetrack to Union Turnpike is shut down for transport to North Shore Manhasset. Use alternate route. This is the 9th police officer shot from self inflicted gunshot this year.
Update as of 8pm the 56 year old officer died.
