Off duty cop stabbed in Jackson Heights

Jackson Heights - Police were called to 94th Street and 30th Avenue reporting a stabbing. After investigation, the victim was an off duty NYPD officer stabbed between the shoulder and arm. The suspect, a male, Hispanic was taken into custody after search by heavy police presence matching the description by witnesses. EMS transported the officer to Booth Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition. Police reported the incident happened outside the cop's home during his child's first communion. The suspect, Diego Velasco, 18 got into altercation. When Luis Diaz, 43, the off duty cop tried to take him outside was stabbed. Ongoing investigation. Reported 9:30pm.
