Off duty cop shot in Sunnyside

Police reported a suspect waiting outside the local 7-Eleven waiting to rob had altercation with an off-duty cop and the latter was shot.

The incident was reported last night around 11pm on Queens Blvd and 43rd Street in Sunnyside.

The suspect, male, black took off in a Toyota, silver mini van toward westbound Queens Blvd.

The cop's parents were in the vehicle during the incident. According to sources, the officer parked the vehicle to get some food while his parents were inside the vehicle. One of the parent noticed a suspect inside a vehicle with a gun. That's when the officer was alerted and gunfire erupted.

The officer is in stable condition and his parents were not injured.

So far no arrests.
