Of 1 1 million NYC public school students 10 are homeless

According to the Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness (ICPH), NYC public school with 1.1 million students, over 100,000 are homeless. The homeless children attending public schools either lives in shelter, motels and family cars. The number is expected to rise to 150,000 for the year 2018. Several reasons resulted the factor such as high rise buildings, economic turmoil and the rising income of immigrants from Asia. The lowest homeless students reported in Bayside and the highest is the Highbridge-Concourse in the Bronx. Other locations with the highest includes Central Harlem, East Tremont, Brownsville, Jamaica and Springfield Gardens. The one place with zero homeless students is Flushing.
