No new hookah bars allowed in NYC

On Wednesday, September 27, NYC Council passed the vote with 37-5 on a bill no new hookah bars allowed which will have to wait next year when the law goes into effect if Mayor di Blasio signs. According to Mayor's office, di Blasio is expected to sign it. Any business pending for hookah bars and lounges can open until the bill pass. The bill will be under the new smoking laws recently passed under the mayor. Also, bars and lounges can remain open late if their business is primarily related to hookah smoke. The bill was introduced by Vincent Gentile of Brooklyn. Councilmembers reported smoking hookha is same as indoor smoking and must be enforced in NYC.
