No evidence of suspicious fire at the cats sanctuary on Long Island

The Brookhaven Town fire marshals reported today there is no evidence found so far whether it's suspicious that they destroyed the cat sanctuary in Medford last Monday where the owner was killed along with around 100 cats.

However, the Chief Fire Marshal Christopher Mehrman says the investigation continues including whether a space heater powered by propane was involved. The Suffolk County Arson Unit is also continuing with the investigation.

This was the quote, “Cause of the fire is undetermined. Cannot rule out a fire caused by propane fed portable heaters that were in the area of fire origin.”

The rescue mission continues under the leadership of Lisa Jaegar who is also a friend of the late owner of Happy Sanctuary Cats. Around 150 cats have been located and rescued to safety. Another 50 are on the search mission in the area by volunteers.

Lisa and her group of volunteers are working around the clock on the scene.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues into what caused the fire.

RIP Chris and the cats.
