New bill to bring police reform in NY

The Attorney General introduced a new bill as part of police reform, The Police Accountability Act. One of the major outlines is making the use of force as the last resort. The AG says this is new from the current standard for those abusing the use of force and officers will be prosecuted if found to have such occurrence. The current law does not require officers to exhaust verbal warning, de-escalation or lower level uses of force before using force. The bill is heading to both Senate and Assembly which is expected to pass.
