New York State Police charge an Adams Center man following a sextortion investigation

On June 16, 2026, New York State Police arrested Carter M. Pooler, age 23, of Adams Center, NY, and charged him with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor in the First Degree.

On August 11, 2025, State Police received a report of a possible sextortion incident involving a juvenile victim in the Town of Norfolk. An investigation determined that a 13-year-old female had been communicating through a social media platform with an individual she believed to be a 13-year-old male.

During the course of their communications, the individual requested and obtained inappropriate images from the victim. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was actually Pooler, who allegedly threatened to distribute the images if the victim did not comply with his demands.

As a result of the investigation, Pooler was arrested and processed at SP Massena. He was arraigned in the Town of Norfolk Court and released under the supervision of probation.
