New Jersey man arested in Baldwin for grand larceny and resisting arrest

The First Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 4:30 pm in Baldwin.

According to Detectives, Officers responded to a disturbance at Coes Neck Park located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Horace Rattigan, 36, of 15 Montclair Avenue, Paterson was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 39, and removed the victims cell phone and fled scene on foot.

Officers located the defendant nearby and attempted to place him into custody. Defendant Rattigan became violent and combative and after a brief struggle, officers were able to secure the defendant. An officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated an active Orders of Protection.

Defendant Horace Rattigan is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Contempt 2ndDegree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
