New Hyde Park s Iavarone Bros founder dies

Joseph Iavarone, 88 died in his sleep at his home in Garden City last Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest. The Italian gourmet located on Lake Success Shopping Center is one of the most profitable business in the area. It was started by his father Pasquale 50 years ago as store in Brooklyn and under Joseph, business expanded to Long Island as a premium caterer. His brother Jerry and three sons continue to run the business today. A wake will be held at Park Funeral Chapel in Garden City Park on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church in Garden City, followed by a burial at Cemetery of the Holy Rood.
