Nassau took over Queens while Brooklyn stays on top

Both NCPD and NYPD compared reports of pedestrian accidents involving vehicles or anything that's mobile from scooters to e-bikes and Brooklyn remains the top spot. The next was Queens but Nassau County took the spot.

As of 2019 to 2024, there were 55 pedestrian deaths across Long Island. For the year 2025 has not been released.

As for Nassau County, the latest pedestrian death was reported in Jericho this morning around 6am where a male, 43 died on the north service road of LIE near Open Street.

A pedestrian died on Tuesday night in the Bay Shore section of Suffolk County involving a vehicle accident.

As of 2023, there were 485 accidents involving pedestrians in Nassau County with 17 fatalities.

For Queens, the NYC Dept of Transportation say accidents declined due to bike lanes, one way roads, closed streets for pedestrians, closing lanes for buses and camera enforcement.
