Starting Tuesday, May 29, anyone buying tobacco from cigarettes to other tobacco related products, the age is 21. The law was signed into effect by county executive Laura Curran. The previous age was 19. Suffolk County already has the law for age 21 in place and now the entire Long Island will be in effect. All stores selling tobacco and tobacco related products must complete sale upon id verification. Failure to do so will result a $1,500 fine.
