NYPD officer died after hit and run on the LIE eastbound

As first reported of a civilian fatality on the LIE eastbound by the Clearview Expressway last night, the NYPD's Highway CIS were investigating when a hit and run struck one of the police officer. The fallen officer, Anastasios Tsakos, 43 was taken to a Booth Memorial Hospital and later died of injuries. The alleged suspect, Jessica Beauvis, 32 of Hempstead was taken into custody after investigation radioing of a vehicle with North Carolina license plates. Beauvis was taken into custody and more charges are pending beside the DWI and driving without a license. From the police statement, Officer Tsakos was coordinating traffic when he was struck by a 2013 Volkswagon.
