The NYPD released information how to protect your home from criminals.

?Keep shrubbery around your home trimmed

?Put away expensive items like grills and bikes

?Install lights around your home

?Secure valuable in a safe or lock box

?Make sure all windows and doors are locked when leaving

This will deter criminals to focus on homes that has not done so. Also, nothing on the second amendment and doesn't applies as per their advisement so its best to practice safety.
