NYPD increasing patrols for the holiday weekend

The NYPD is set to increase patrols for the July 4th holiday weekend mainly around Times Square, Macy's vicinity where fireworks will be celebrated and other busy locations.

For Queens, Long Island City has been a favorite destination to see fireworks in Manhattan and police are setting up presence in the coming day.

As of this week, around 74 victims were robbed in Queens alone and police are advising all to stay alert all around including transit.

As for stabbing and slashings, two locations, Corona and Flushing continue to report as uptick.

The latest incident was reported in the vicinity of 37th Avenue and Union Street on Tuesday around 11pm where a dispute turned into stabbing. So far no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
