NYC upgraded parks with timers to control water in parks

NYC Dept of Environmental Protection along with Parks and Recreation and NYC Council announced automatic shut down and activation of timers setup to 400 spray showers at NYC playgrounds to control water when not in use. The cost of project is $3 million taxpayers fund and will reduce water use by 50% saving over one million gallons of water a day. The city reported without timer, more than 5,600 gallons of water is drained per day in the parks. This includes Alley Pond Park and other locations from Bayside to Cunningham Park.
