NYC school snippets for this week

Alright, let’s go to the crime first. Today around 11am, a student at the local Cambria Heights Academy in Hollis was busted for a loaded gun. The school does not have a scanning system in place. From a school security, the weapon was found inside the backpack and then NYPD transported the student for charges of weapon possession. Today the Mayor announced 15 MPH for assigned school locations around the city in three years. This is part of Sammy's Law to reduce speed limits across the city. From the Mayor’s office, More than 800 additional school locations will see speed limits reduced to 15 MPH this year, bringing the total school locations with 15 MPH speed limits to 1,300 by the end of the calendar year. The administration plans to expand 15 MPH School Slow Zones where eligible at all 2,300 school locations across the five boroughs by the end of Mayor Mamdani’s first term.

There will be no public school this Friday due to the holiday, Eid al-Fitr. Also PTA meetings are scheduled on Thursday and where conducted, students will be dismissed from class earlier for longer weekends to spend more time studying at home. April 2 is when spring recess starts another great week off to study more and some more.
