NYC Mayor wants disaster declaration from the fed

The NYC Mayor's office reported that de Blasio is seeking disaster fund for NYC after riots and loots in NYC. He acted after Minnesota Governor applied for relief with the Trump administration for the damage in Minneapolis. According to the fed, disaster declaration does not count for self-inflicted damages. It is the responsibility of the governor and local government to stop such damages by working with law enforcement. As for Minneapolis, their city council voted for abolish the police force. As for NYC, the city council voted to defund the police force.
