NYC DOT extended permit for driver less taxi

The only driver-less car in NYC authorized by Waymo has the permit extended to March 31, 2026 to operate in NYC under the current Mayor. Driver less means autonomous which is the bigger word to impress.

The next one is Robotaxi from Tesla which is almost finished with the infrastructure setup in College Point.

As of this year, NYC remains the number one spot for generating the most income from ride share apps and other car services at $9 billion followed by Los Angeles at $3 billion.

At the moment, the issue is serving people in NYC in excess of 5 million trips per day when the city doesn't have the electric grid to handle the load. Not even 1 million trips can match up to 5,000 electric vehicles. Sad.

As of now, the regulatory permits are on hold for Tesla in NYC.

The incoming NYC Mayor campaigned for workers protection with ride share apps and yellow cabs. However, if more companies come forth, it's hard to say NO to. The NY Governor is pushing for electricity all over the state which has a long way to go.

For now, maybe driver less cars maybe a start from JFK to LGA and vice versa but no one knows.
