NYC DEP is offering one time amnesty

The NYC DEP that oversees water bills is offering one time amnesty for any late charges. The program will end April 30, 2023. The interest is covered up to January 29, 2021 and not the new bill for account holders.

The city will not shut off the water line, instead process a lien sale which will be attached to the home for auction sale in the future to recover money. The same method as property tax delinquents.
