NCPD fining people for walking on the roads

For the last one week, Nassau County police has been issuing fines for people walking on non-sidewalks except where assigned. The rarely known violation, VTL 1156.A is to enforce pedestrians not walking on the sidewalks. If there are no sidewalks, then the violation does not apply. The fine range from the first offence to warning and then $150. Last week, a pedestrian was walking on the street on Hempstead Turnpike and police approached for the violation. When the pedestrian didn't have identification, police found loaded gun in the pocket. Three more pedestrians were fined with one on Old Country Road.
