Motorcyclist killed in motor vehicle crash in Ronkonkoma

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Ronkonkoma last night. Scott Dawes Jr. was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson in the right lane of the westbound Long Island Expressway at exit 60 when he struck the rear of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Haci Ozgun, at approximately 10:40 p.m. Dawes was ejected into the HOV lane where he was struck by a 2012 Honda, driven by Jasper Oberfelder-Riehm. Dawes, 27, of Franklin, New York, was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance unit from the Ronkonkoma Fire Department. Ozgun, 46, of Ronkonkoma, and Oberfelder-Riehm, 27, of New York City, were not injured. All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks. (Info from Suffolk County police)
