The Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a man for Sexual Abuse that occurred on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 4:35 pm in Mineola.

According to Detectives, defendant Peter Koonanikal, 56, of Mineola, approached a female juvenile, 14, and grabbed her inappropriately while she was walking at the Mineola Street Fair.  The female victim took a picture of the defendant who then walked away.  The female juvenile quickly alerted her parent who located Koonanikal and then observed him inappropriately grabbing a 12-year-old female victim.  Officers responded and placed the defendant under arrest without further incident.

Defendant Peter Koonanikal is charged with Sexual Abuse 1st degree, two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two (2) counts of Forcible Touching. He will be arraigned on Monday, September 23, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
