After the NYC Mayor's office confirmed a new contract is in place, the base salary for a police officer is increased to $55,190. Even better, after 5.5 years on the job, the pay will be $117,510 not including overtime pay. Also this does not include night differential.

The best result is the 20 years service earns a nice pension of over $5K per month for life.
