Massapequa pizzeria owner damages gas line to his business arrested after investigation

The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 pm in Massapequa Park.

According to Detectives, Seventh Precinct officers responded to Sgambatis Pizza, located at 4952 Merrick Road, for the smell of natural gas. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown subject had damaged the gas line. After a thorough investigation it was determined that Raymond Sgambati, 48, of 6 Anchor Drive was responsible for the incident. He was arrested without incident.

Defendant Sgambati is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Attempted Arson 3rdDegree and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
