Man was fatally shot in a building in Richmond Hill

A 35-year-old man was shot to death in Richmond Hill apartment building early Sunday as per police statement.

The victim was shot multiple times in the head and torso in a building heard people forcing their way in the lobby door like two or three times, “They brought the person downstairs, and I never seen or recognized him living in this building,” he said of the victim. “It is kind of creepy and scary that it happened.” according to the news media.

Rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital, but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.

“Every night there’s noise. The building’s landlord, who declined to give his name, said he believes the victim was visiting a troublesome second-floor supportive housing tenant who has frequent disruptive guests.

“He has been causing a lot of disturbance,” the landlord said of the tenant. “Everyone has a key for the entrance door, but he would rattle the door and force the lock to open,” he added. “Once he get the door open, he brings these street people.”

The shooting marks the third homicide this year in Queens’ 102nd Precinct, which saw seven slayings in all of 2023, according to NYPD statistics.
