Man shot by police in Merrick

Police were called to a domestic violence on Wednesday around 1:45am in Merrick. Police arrived to a home on Murray Place and reported a man had gun and pistol whipped a woman reported there was a child in the house. When the man refused to drop the gun per police order, he was shot once in the chest and died at a local hospital. Ongoing investigation.
