Male injured after a fire in South Ozone Park

Police have closed off the Van Wyck Expressway service road by 133 Street in South Ozone Park reporting a homeless man suffered injuries after fire. The man who has made the area in the bush his home with boards for a long time was known by locals.

Reported the male was possibly set on fire.

EMS transported the homeless to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition with burns.

FDNY is working on the scene as the fire has extended to the bush.

Police are investigating the incident. According to the neighbors, the homeless male has been calling that place his home for many years and never bothered anyone. Ongoing investigation.
