Major accident involving 8 vehicles in Bellerose

Police, ESU, FDNY and EMS are at the intersection of Commonwealth Blvd and 83rd Avenue reporting accident involving 8 vehicles with one auto flipped. Multiple injuries with 2 in critical condition. Three vehicles slammed toward the fence next to Cross Island Parkway. Thru traffic from Union Turnpike diverted to inside streets for continuation from paving. Reporting one in custody for DWI. The cause of accident is under investigation.
