Long Island to get new soccer team with a stadium

Uniondale, Nassau County will have a new soccer team with a new stadium all set for the year 2027 after making the announcement officially today. The location will hold 2,500 fans initially and then expansion plan if all goes well to 5,000 along a community and academy hub. The name of the team is The Island F.C. as part of the Major League Soccer Next Pro.

The new stadium will be built at the Mitchell Athletic Complex where construction is expected to start next year.

This is the seventh independent team for the soccer league, the first on Long Island and third in the tri-state area.

Soccer is the next growing sport and more stadiums to be announced next year nationwide.
