Long Island man busted for attempted kidnap of 7 year old in Flushing

Police reported attempted kidnapping in Flushing. The incident was reported on Monday around 7am on Lawrence Street in Flushing. The man dragged a 7 year old from her bed after breaking into the home and walked out through the front door. The girl screamed for help after outside when she was pushed down on the front steps. Family members heard the cry and went outside and the suspect ran on foot. Police were able to locate the suspect few blocks away and was placed in custody. The child is safe and the suspect has been charged with burglary, attempted kidnapping, assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Bail is not allowed and undergoing psychiatric evaluation. Queens DA Melinda Katz reported the alleged suspect is Pete Haughton, 32 of Brentwood.
