Local deputy a real hero on Hillside Avenue

Last night around 5pm, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Hillside Avenue. This is by 170th Street in Jamaica.

As soon as the incident occurred, a witness, York College's deputy of security, rushed to the scene and called 911 along with other help staying in the freezing cold.

The victim was struck by a local tow truck.

EMS reported the victim was transported in critical condition.

The driver remained on the scene and continued to cooperate with the police.

Highway CIS is continuing with the investigation.
