Life gone too soon

RIP Sir and thanks for your service.

Police Officer Jason Rivera was only 22 when he was killed in the line of duty. Only 14 months into his job.

His parents immigrated from the Dominican Republic to give their best for their children. From his community, "For Dominicans parents having their kids join the NYPD is a source of pride and joy."

He was a son, newly wed husband, and friend. He served with honor and dignity to protect our city.

This was his message, "When I applied to become a police officer I knew this was the career for me."

The other officer is in critical condition as another son of immigrants also from Dominican Republic,

27-year-old Officer Wilbert Mora.
