Lawsuits continue to pile up for bird poops under 7 train tracks

After federal class action lawsuit filed by local residents against MTA back in 2017 of bird poop and other chemicals falling down onto sidewalks of 7 trains in Flushing, more people have filed cases. Lawyers on Roosevelt Avenue are enjoying the paper work of lawsuits accusing the MTA of not maintaining and cleaning such conditions claiming health hazard conditions. Some lawsuits are classified as public health emergency releasing chemicals in the environment. The Department of Health warns about three human diseases associated with pigeon droppings: histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis and psittacosis, also known as ornithosis or parrot fever. It stresses that people with compromised immune systems, including HIV/AIDS or cancer patients, should not be directly involved in the removal of the droppings. This includes bird droppings toward outside groceries and food cart vendors. The lawsuits are ongoing with MTA filing back and forth while residents are left in the dark with no conclusion.
