Juneteenth celebrations plagued with bullets

More than 100 people were shot nationwide during Juneteenth celebrations and 12 dead since Friday. As usual, Chicago leads followed by Milwaukee, Washington, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Baltimore and of course NYC. Chicago reported 29 bullet victims followed by NYC.

On Monday alone, 15 people were shot in NYC and 5 were dead. Three females, 19, 20 and 28 were struck by stray bullets in Riverside State Park last night. This is by West 158 Street around 9pm during the Juneteenth celebration in Manhattan. 38 incidents reported of bullets fired in the air.

The Mayor’s Office blamed gun violence as usual and must work harder to remove illegal guns from NYC coming from other states.

The NY Governor announced over 10,000 illegal guns were seized by police in 2022, a record for the state. The Governor stated, more guns off our streets means fewer shootings and announced a $337 million to combat gun violence to keep people safe.
