Jericho Turnpike closed in Garden City Park due to fire

Firefighters are at the local gas station reporting a heavy fire. This is at the unit location 2399 where all are evacuated. EMS is checking for injuries.

As of now Jericho Turnpike is closed in both directions in Garden City Park near Marcus Avenue and Nassau Blvd.

Local residents are advised to keep the windows closed due to smoke.

Firefighters are working on the scene.

Now reporting it’s second alarm with over 100 personnel working on the scene.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
