Jamaica stabbing suspect arrested after his mother reported to police

Police arrested Jeff Platel, 19 of Springfield Gardens on January 29 around 7:15pm after his mother saw the incident identifying him as the suspect from the surveillance video. Platel allegedly stabbed and robbed a victim on January 21 around 5am and then took off stealing the backpack on 148th Street and 90th Avenue. The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital with injuries.
