Internal investigation started on the NYS trooper in Nassau County

The Nassau County DA's office is now investigating the shooting of a NYS Trooper who was shot on the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead on October 30 with different twists. Then the NYS Police issued a warrant to search the trooper's home in West Hempstead today where the area was closed.

This is the statement,

"State Police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances involving Trooper Mascia that was reported on October 30th. This remains an ongoing investigation and further specifics are not being released at this time."

From the initial investigation, the NYSP stated the trooper was shot in the leg by a driver who was on the side of the parkway and then took off. A search for a Dodge Charger so far was unable to locate and today it was on hold from continuing. Further investigation confirmed the trooper's body camera was not on since he didn't have his front siren lights on but only the back ones.

More details will be announced in the coming days from this investigation.

As of now, the Nassau County DA's Office released this statement,

"My office, in partnership with the New York State Police, is actively investigating certain inconsistencies identified in the reporting of a shooting incident involving New York State Trooper Thomas Mascia last week on the Southern State Parkway. The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and we refrain from further comment until it is completed."
