Independent race to heat up for the NYC Mayor

Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has finally decided to stay in the race as an Independent candidate. Cuomo is now aligned with the current Mayor Adams also on the Independent line will face off the Republican candidate Sliwa and the Democrat primary winner Zohran Mamdani.

Cuomo is forecasting by mid-September, either Adams or Sliwa has a good chance of dropping out. Also, Cuomo says he will drop out if he is lagging behind Mamdani before the election. This leaves Mamdani with either Sliwa or Adams for the general election.

Another surprise is Max Burwick, head of crypto law firm Burwick Law, has entered the NYC mayoral race and plans to challenge Mamdani with a campaign focused on crypto, common-sense regulation, and a New York-first approach.

Independent voters make up 1 million registered voters in NYC and this is where votes will be split leaving the odd between Democratic and Republican candidates.

It's a wait and watch.
