Humanitarian crisis is expanding in NYC

As of today, the number of undocumented migrants from the border dropped off to NYC is over 10,000 and increasing by 100 a day. The Governor's task on affordable housing to house those experiencing homeless is on track to allocate around 2,500 for this year while the shelters are in need of expansion. According to the Mayor's Office, 187 formerly incarcerated have moved to luxury homes under affordable housing with vouchers for June and that number is expected to skyrocket. For both Governor and Mayor, housing is the top priority for safe neighborhoods. For NYC, the current budget is $4 billion and expected to increase to $8 billion due to undocumented migrants from the border. Meanwhile, over 50,000 kids attending NYC public schools are living in the shelter for over 3 years and are still looking for permanent homes. The non profits are working on that but won't disclose the updates. Meanwhile, Forest Hills to Kew Garden Hills is the next on the line for the housing market due to the new jail. As of summer, 4 locations on Queens Blvd are pending decisions for 8 plus story building by the subway and a new office for NYPD's Queens SVU. 19 nonprofits have applied for office locations around the new jail coming in Kew Garden Hills along with hotel permits.
