Homicide investigation involving domestic violence in Riverhead

The SCPD closed off Blake Avenue in Riverhead after domestic violence resulted in one death. This is in Suffolk County by Topping Drive.

From police sources, the son became estranged inside a home and allegedly stabbed his mother after a hostage crisis from calls to 911. Police arrived at the scene and this is where the perp was moving forth with the knife. One of the officers returned fire after ramming toward with a knife. EMS declared the perp dead on the scene.

The incident was reported this afternoon around 3:30pm in Suffolk County. EMS transported the mother with stabbed wounds to a local hospital who was in a wheelchair.

EMS transported the other family members to hospitals.

One of the officers was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation continues.
