Homer troopers seeking publics assistance identifying suspect in larceny

The New York State Police at Homer are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individual pictured in surveillance images related to a larceny investigation. Although the images are of limited quality, Troopers believe someone familiar with the suspect may be able to recognize her.

In March 2026, a Trooper was dispatched by the Cortland County 911 Center to Marshall’s on State Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville for a reported larceny. Despite investigative efforts, the suspect has not yet been identified.

On March 25, 2026, at approximately 8:17 p.m., a female suspect entered the store accompanied by a male. The female was described as wearing a black coat with fur trim on the hood, black leggings, and a gray hat. The male was wearing a brown coat, a green hooded sweatshirt, and jeans.

While inside the store, an employee observed the female conceal several items of merchandise inside a Five Below shopping bag. The suspect purchased a package of men’s t-shirts but failed to pay for the other merchandise.

When confronted by a store employee, the female denied taking any merchandise. The employee was able to recover some of the items before the suspect left the store. She was last seen walking in the direction of Walmart prior to the arrival of responding Troopers.
