Hit and run with one dead in Richmond Hill

A group of people including a woman on a bicycle were crossing on Liberty Avenue when a driver slammed toward them. One pedestrian is dead on the scene. Thi is by Van Wyck Expressway in Richmond Hill. Police reported the female, 40's on the bike died after the impact.

The loser driver took off without stopping. A witness reported the vehicle is a semi truck last seen heading to the Van Wyck Expressway southbound.

The city's medical examiner transported the body for autopsy.

Detectives are checking surveillance in the area for details.

It happened around 11:45am today.
